GENERAL  MEETING
April 17, 2017 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Chris Booth, Iris Weise, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Karen Bogadi, Judy Frank, Linda Shaver, Linda Publicover, Pam Branfuhr, Mary Sheldon, Shirley Cushing, and Liz Gray
Also present:  Webmaster Ronda Jones

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m.  The March 13, 2017 general meeting minutes stand as posted.

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:


President:  Chris Booth welcomed guests. 

Vice President:   No report.
Secretary:  No report. 

Treasurer:  JoEllen Cruze stated the treasurer’s report is posted on the website. 

Programs/Education:  Linda Shaver reported books/patterns for 2017 programs and workshops have been purchased and placed in the magazine holder in the library.  They should remain in the Fiber Arts Room.  If a members needs to borrow any of these patterns, please contact Linda Shaver or Pam Murphy. 

Linda thanked Linda Publicover for the monthly skill builder workshop held on March 21; Susan Wendt for the disappearing 9-patch class held on March 28; Donna Aybar for the Mom & Me Apron Class held on April 4; and Jean Fry for the Fold ‘n Stitch Wreath class held on April 13. 

The Modern Quilt Group met on April 7 and their next meeting will be on May 5.

The Farmer’s Wife group continues to meet on Thursday and Sunday afternoons. 

Chris Booth will teach the next skill builders’ class April 25 on the Curved Log Cabin. 

The pinhead’s quarterly pincushion workshop conducted by Karen Bogadi will be on May 11. 

The June skill builder class will be replaced with Christmas in June, and will be held on June 20. 

Members were reminded to check the calendar regarding classes and open sewing days.  We also need to be mindful that we do share our space with other groups.  

Community Service:  Chris Booth thanked Wendy Gilbert for the fabric donations and the kits she made from her stash for the April 11 community service project.  Members made 16 quilt tops from those fabrics. 

Long Arm:  Chris Booth reported that Ron Paul has serviced the long arm and a summary has been posted on the website. 

Publicity:  No report.
Social:   No report.
Librarian:  No report.
Sales:  No report.


History:  Chris Booth presented the 2016 scrapbook completed by Joni Reynertson. 

Documentation Project:  Chris Booth reported we are trying to continue the documentation project through the summer.  If members have quilts they would like to have documented, there is a sign-up sheet inside cabinet door 23. 

Challenge Quilt:  Kathleen O’Connor reported the challenge quilt for the coming year will be “My Log Cabin and Beyond.”

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 

Opportunity Quilt:  Chris Booth asked the members to contact her or Karen Bogadi if they know of any upcoming events that would present a good opportunity for us to sell tickets for the 2017 opportunity quilt. 

Fabric Scraps:  Chris Booth reported we are still collecting scraps for dog beds.  Donna Aybar has taken on the task of making dog beds.  If members know of any locations needing those beds, please contact Donna.

NEW BUSINESS: 

Chris Booth reported a new iron has been purchased along with 12 new clamps. 

Linda Labenz was contacted by David Carter, who expressed his appreciation for the quilt we donated to Hospice of the Valley.  

After an excellent luncheon, Iris Weise introduced the luncheon’s guest speaker, Wendy Gilbert.  

The next general meeting will be at 7:00 pm on May 8. 

Iris Weise motioned the meeting be adjourned and Linda Shaver seconded the motion.  Members approved.
