GENERAL MEETING
April 15, 2019 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Jean Fry, Marka Locker,  Marlene Kuskie, Kathy Brown, Judy Frank, Roberta Penchina

Jean Fry called the meeting to order at 11:25 a.m.  The March 11, 2019 general meeting minutes stand approved as posted. 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES: 

President:  Jean Fry welcomed new member Jan Galloway, and other guests.  A welcome back was also given to several members who have been out due to surgery and illness.
Jean Fry thanked Marka Locker and Ronda Jones for their work on the Spring Luncheon and also Linda Rowe and Karen Rubsam for the beautiful decorations and prizes. 

Vice President:  Marka Locker mentioned food bank donations are being collected at the luncheon. 

Secretary:  Jean Fry noted that Helen Phillips would be recording the minutes in Teri Burnett’s absence. 

Treasurer:  No report.  Treasurer’s report is available on the website. 

Programs/Education:  Kathy Brown reported Jean Fry will be teaching a wreath class on May 14.  A GO Fabric cutter was recently acquired and demonstrations will be given at 4 p.m. on April 15 and April 22.    

Community Service:  Judy Frank reported a total of 210 items have been donated during 2019 to date including 49 quilts. 

Judy Frank and Lynn Hupp attended the Abrazo West Campus Appreciation luncheon recently.  Ninety percent of the volunteers are from Pebblecreek.  The nurses were very appreciative of the items donated in the past and especially the busy lap pads. 

A community service sewing day is scheduled for April 20 for members to work on existing community service projects.  Kits are available for members to take with them to work on over the summer months.

At the May 18 community service sewing day, members will be provided kits to make Veteran Appreciation quilts 

Joni Reynertson displayed quilts and quilt tops made by the blue, red and green teams at the last community service sewing day in March. 

Long Arm:  Roberta Penchina noted Ron will be here later this week or next week to service the long arm. 

Publicity:  No report.

Sales:  No report. 

Social:  Linda Rowe noted the next social is planned for May 6.  A Christmas in July gift exchange is being planned.  In October, there will be a welcome back party at the Oasis pool. 

Librarian:  Liz Gray noted there are books available to the members in the foyer.  A thank you was also noted for those members who helped clean out the library.  The library is now located in just one cabinet. 

Webmaster:  Ronda Jones noted old photos are still needed for the website. 

Display Window:  No report. 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Opportunity Quilt:  Chris Booth unveiled the 2019 opportunity quilt.  The quilt was pieced by Sue Godwin and quilted by Barb Maurer.  The name of the quilt is “A Godwin Christmas.”  Tickets are now available for purchase. 

Challenge Quilt:  Kathleen O’Connell noted 2 windows were filled in March with the hexagon challenge. 
The 2019 challenge will be “Thoughts of Home”.  It can be any size, color, or fabric.  Additional information will be posted on the website. 

Documentation:  Donna Wisnoski noted documentation is now completed for this spring and will be on break through the summer. 

Veterans’ Appreciation Quilts:  Cynthia Schwartz explained the project to the members and noted kits will be available at the May 18 community service sewing day. 

OLD BUSINESS:
None noted.


NEW BUSINESS: 

Wendy Gilbert gave a short presentation on the Perryville Prison Project and noted some members will be working on items through the summer.  The project started two years ago, and $2,000 has previously been raised to help those ladies with obtaining a GED or college degree.  Thus far 19 individuals have graduated from high school and one has received a college degree.  A sale of items is planned for October at Wendy Gilbert’s home.

Linda Labenz noted an ambassador’s tour will be planned on an “as needed” basis and asked members to let her know if they would like to take part in a tour.  A sign up sheet was circulated. 

Jean Fry noted Priscilla Naworksi will be leaving Pebblecreek and this was her last time to attend a general meeting. 

Marka Locker introduced Karen Bogadi.  Karen Bogadi gave a truck show of the fabulous quilts she has made through the years.  

The next board meeting will be held on May 6, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Diamondback Room.   The next general meeting will be held on May 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m., with social at 6:30 pm held in the art room. 

Helen Phillips moved the meeting be adjourned, and Nan Perkins seconded.  Motion approved.
