 GENERAL MEETING
December 10, 2018 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Chris Booth, Jean Fry, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Marlene Kuskie, Donna Aybar, Kathy Brown, Linda Publicover 

COMMITTEE CHAIRS PRESENT:  Pam Branfuhr, Mary Sheldon, Liz Gray, Priscilla Naworski, Cathy Howell, Wendy Gilbert 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:  Sandy Crabtree, Judy Frank, Roberta Penchina, Lynne Hupp, Barbara Maurer, Irene Lukes, Joanne Kraatz, Irma Taylor, Donna Wisnoski

Also present:  Webmaster Ronda Jones, and Linda Shaver, Emeritus 

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 11:50 a.m.  The November 12, 2018 General meeting minutes stand approved as posted. 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES: 

President:  Chris Booth welcomed members and new member, Jackie Cameron.  Members were thanked for their contributions to the Aqua Fria Food Bank.  Marka Locker volunteered to deliver the Food Bank contributions.  

Special recognition was given to Edna De Ford for recently receiving the Kare Bear Founders Community Service Award. 

Vice President:  No report.
Secretary:  No report. 

Treasurer:  JoEllen Cruze stated the current balance is $15,732.  Treasurer’s report is available on the website. 

Chris Booth asked that members turn in any receipts to JoEllen Cruze as soon as possible and that outstanding checks be cashed before the year end.  

A volunteer was requested to audit the 2018 books. 

Programs/Education: Sandy Crabtree reported Cathy Howell will teach a Present Table Runner class on December 11 at 9:30 a.m. Sue Whaples will teach a Diva Wallet class on January 8. 

Kathy Brown and Sandy Crabtree gave special recognition to the teachers during 2018. 

Community Service:  Judy Frank reported 211 quilts have been delivered to various charities during 2018.  The donation total for 2018 of 541 items includes quilts, receiving blankets, dog beds, zippy strippy bags, walker caddies, along with other items.

A community service sewing day is planned for January 19 where members will be working on receiving blankets.  During 2019, there will be one community service sewing day each month, except for November and December.                        

Chris Booth noted an invitation has been received from Hospice of the Valley for its open house to be held on December 14 from 9-10 a.m. at 9435 W. Peoria.  Those interested in attending should contact Judy Frank. 

Long Arm:  No report.
Publicity:  No report.
Sales:  Pam Branfuhr reported the Gallery has requested table runner and placemat sets. 

Social:  Chris Booth thanked Mary Sheldon for the decorations and prizes for the luncheon, as well as for the social events during the past year.

Mary Sheldon conducted a drawing for the door prizes.

Librarian:  No report.
Historian:  No report. 
Webmaster:  No report.
Display Window:  No report. 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES 

Veteran’s Quilts:  Liz Gray thanked the members who worked on the patriotic quilts and noted several thank you notes were received from the 2018 veteran recipients.   There is currently a list of ten veterans for the 2019 Veteran’s Day presentation.  

Opportunity Quilt: Chris Booth reported all printed tickets including the 200 tickets printed for the luncheon have been sold.  Approximately $2,000 was taken in for the 2018 Opportunity Quilt. 

Chris Booth gave special recognition to Jean Fry and Cindy Santoro for their work on the quilt. 

A drawing was held for the 2018 Opportunity Quilt and the ticket winner was Marcia Zigmunt, a Pebblecreek resident. 

Documentation:  Donna Wisnoski reported the first documentation of quilts in 2019 will be on January 11 from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Those interested in participating in the project should contact Donna Wisnoski. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: 

Chris Booth thanked those who assisted with the hanging of Christmas and Hanukkah quilts in the CAC hallways.  The quilts will remain there through the month of December. 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Sue Whaples noted the sale of fabric from Linda Atkins was very successful and some fabric is still available.  Members were asked to contact Sue Whaples if interested in purchasing fabric for $5.00 a yard. 

Jean Fry presented Chris Booth with a quilt in appreciation for her service as president the past two years. 

Chris Booth acknowledged the outgoing Board members and thanked them for their service. 

Ronda Jones announced the slate of officers and asked if there were any additional nominees.  The slate of officers for 2019 is a follows:

A vote was taken on the slate of officers for 2019 and it was approved. 

Jean Fry noted the next board meeting will be held on January 7, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fiber Arts Room.  The annual membership meeting will be held on January 14. 

Chris Booth moved the meeting be adjourned, and  Iris Weise seconded.  Motion approved.
