Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The November 5, 2018 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President: Chris Booth thanked the board members, committee chairs, committee members, Ronda Jones and Linda Shaver for serving this past year in their various capacities. The new slate of officers will be presented for a vote at the general meeting before the Holiday Luncheon on December 10.
Vice President: Jean Fry reported the Holiday Luncheon will be on December 10 with a social at 11:30 a.m., general meeting at noon, and then lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Approximately 90 members have made reservations for the luncheon. There will be a collection of nonperishable food items for the Aqua Fria Food Bank at the luncheon. The members will be encouraged to wear “ugly holiday sweaters.”
Membership cards for 2019 are now available.
Secretary: No report.
Treasurer: JoEllen Cruze stated the current balance is $15,732. Treasurer’s report is available on the website. Approximately 100 members have paid 2019 membership dues.
Programs/Education: Sandy Crabtree reported the second class of the Curvy Pieced Table runner class will be taught by Diane Rottman on December 6. Sue Whaples will teach a Diva Wallet class on January 8.
An academy class is being planned for 2019 and volunteers will be needed.
Community Service: Donna Aybar received a thank you note from Sharon Moran who won the basket donated to the Kare Bears. Following the Board meeting, the zippy strippy bags will be stuffed with toiletries for the New Life Center’s “Santa’s Workshop.”
Judy Frank reported an invitation has been received from Hospice of the Valley for its open house to be held on December 14 from 9-10 a.m. at 9435 W. Peoria. Those interested in attending should contact Judy Frank.
A community service sewing day is planned for January 19.
Long Arm: No report.
Publicity: No report.
Sales: Pam Branfuhr reported the Gallery still needs holiday table runners with placemats. In January, the Gallery will need items for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter.
Social: Mary Sheldon reported centerpieces and prizes are ready for the Holiday Luncheon.
Librarian: No report.
Historian: No report.
Webmaster: Ronda Jones suggested a class on how to use the website might be helpful to the new members.
Display Window: No report.
Veteran’s Quilts: Liz Gray reported there is a list of ten veterans and several patriotic quilts for the 2019 Veteran’s Day presentation of quilts to veterans.
Opportunity Quilt: Chris Booth reported all printed tickets have been sold and an additional 150 tickets have been ordered. There was approximately $200 in tickets sales at the Desert Fest held on December 1.
Documentation: No report.
Chris Booth thanked those who assisted with the hanging of Christmas and Hanukkah quilts in the CAC hallways. The quilts will remain there through the month of December.
Chris Booth noted Edna De Ford will be recognized at the Holiday luncheon for community service award she received at the recent Care Bear luncheon.
Chris Booth noted the next membership meeting will be held on December 10, 2018 at the Holiday luncheon.
The next board meeting will be held on January 7, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Fiber Arts Room.
