BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Booth, Iris Weise, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Karen Bogadi, Donna Aybar, Judy Frank, Linda Shaver, Pam Murphy, Linda Publicover, Joanne Kraatz, Pam Branfuhr, Mary Sheldon, and Liz Gray.
Also present: Webmaster Ronda Jones, and Nancy Treece, Emeritus
Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The November 6, 2017 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President: Chris Booth thanked the Board members for serving this past year. The 2018 slate of officers has been presented to the members.
Several thank you notes have been received from the veterans who received patriotic quilts. There was discussion about presenting quilts to PebbleCreek veterans again next year, as well as during the year to residents of PebbleCreek through Kare Bears.
Vice President: Iris Weise reported Christmas luncheon reservations are being made through PayPal. Discount cards for Bob’s Variety have been picked up and will be available at the general meeting, along with 2018 membership cards.
Secretary: No report.
Treasurer: JoEllen Cruze stated the current balance is $13,190. Treasurer’s report is available on the website.
Linda Shaver reported Carolyn Ryder taught a pinked edge appliqué technique at the November 28 skill builders’ class.
Karen Bogadi taught the final pinhead class, “Funky Chicken,” on November 30.
Marlene Kuskie will teach a paper rose class on November 5.
Linda Publicover will conduct a Christmas stocking workshop on December 10 at 10:00 a.m.
Pam Murphy and Linda Shaver will teach a Snowman class using a scrappy background on December 12.
There will be a recognition of the 2017 teachers at the Christmas luncheon.
Donna Aybar reported fifty-one quilts were donated during the month of November. This includes those given to the veterans.
Dog beds will be stuffed and sewn on December 8 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Bosom Buddies will be picking up 20 breast cancer pillows.
Long Arm: Linda Publicover reported minor adjustments have been made to the long arm. During the month of November there were 22 personal quilts and 9 charity quilts quilted on the long arm. Members certified on the long arm will be encouraged to quilt charity quilts.
Publicity: No report.
Sales: No report.
Social: Mary Sheldon reported centerpieces for the luncheon are being made and a workshop is set for December 7.
Librarian: No report.
Historian: Liz Gray requested photos for the album to be presented at the Spring luncheon.
Webmaster: No report.
Display Window: No report.
Quilt Show: Chris Booth reported the quilt show is set for March 18. Members will have the whole building to display their quilts. Millissa Masters and Barb Maurer will be in charge of the quilt show and will be providing members with forms to complete for any quilts to be displayed. Numerous volunteers will be needed.
Challenge Quilt: No report.
Documentation: No report.
Opportunity Quilt: Karen Bogadi reported tickets for the Opportunity Quilt sold at Arizona Quilts in November totaled $62, and at the PebbleCreeek Arts and Craft Festival on December 2 totaled $241. Tickets will be sold at the Christmas luncheon. The drawing for the quilt will be made at the Christmas luncheon.
Chris Booth reported Donna Wisnoski will be auditing the books for 2017.
There will be a budget meeting in January. Committee members should contact JoEllen Cruze regarding any requests for changes to the budget.
A special recognition of Sue Godwin will be made at the Christmas luncheon. Pam Branfuhr motioned we have a raffle for Sue Godwin’s quilted bear and funds from the raffle be donated to Wounded Warriors on Sue Godwin’s behalf. Karen Bogadi seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion carried.
Helen Phillips motioned that Donna Cousino and Cheryl McGovern be our guests at the Christmas luncheon in appreciation for their work on the 2017 opportunity quilt. Liz Gray seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion carried.
The January Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 2 at 9 a.m.
Pam Branfuhr moved the meeting be adjourned, and Karen Bogadi seconded. Board members approved.
