Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The January 9, 2017 annual general meeting minutes stand as posted.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President: Chris Booth reported on updates to equipment in the room, and reminded members that all cabinets and doors need to be locked when vacating the room. Valentine cards were sent and a quilt was recently delivered to Kim Lagerstrom.
Vice President: Iris Weise reported that new member packets have been assembled and will be placed in the container above the counter.
The Spring luncheon is scheduled for April 17 at noon.
Secretary: No report.
Treasurer: Treasurer’s report is available on the website. Current balance is $14,100.
Programs/Education: Linda Shaver thanked Donna Aybar and Darlene Walker for demonstrations prior to the general meeting. January activities included Quilting 101, skill building, Road to California bags, and the big round bag class.
The Modern Quilt Group met on February 3. This group is open to all members and will meet on the first Friday of the month from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The March 3 meeting will feature minimalism.
The Farmer’s Wife Group (led by Millissa Masters and Barb Mauer) met on February 12 and will meet on Thursday and Sunday afternoons.
Karen Bogadi will lead a pincushion workshop quarterly. The first workshop will be on March 9.
On February 28, Linda Labenz will conduct a “Skill Builder” workshop. Participants will need a Stack, Shuffle, and Slide book for this class.
On March 21, Linda Publicover will conduct a “Skill Builder” workshop on finishing quilts.
On March 28, Susan Wendt will have a class on the disappearing nine-patch. This is a beginner’s quilting class and will be open first to members who participated in Quilting 101.
On April 4, Donna Aybar will have a “Mommy and Me” apron sewing class.
Community Service: Donna Aybar reported community service projects are scheduled for February 18 (Life Center Hope Bags), and March 1 (Red, White and Blue).
Long Arm: Linda Publicover reported the long arm procedures have been updated. The long arm is as low as it can get at this time.
Publicity: Karen Bogadi reported $386 in opportunity quilt ticket sales at the Desert Fest, for a total of $406 in recent sales. The PC parking lot sale is on February 25 and members were asked to sign up to help with opportunity quilt ticket sales.
Sales: Pam Branfuhr stated we are in need of items for the Gallery, specifically placemats and napkins. A sewing day has been scheduled for March 22 and kits will be available.
Social: No report.
Librarian: No report.
Historian: No report.
Webmaster: Ronda Jones will give a demonstration on the website immediately following the meeting.
Display Window: No report.
Quilt Show: Chris Booth reported the Quilt Show has been postponed until 2018.
Quilting 101: Barb Maurer thanked the 21 quilters who assisted with Quilting 101. There were 15 students and they all finished their projects.
Challenge Quilt: Kathleen O’Connell reported we will have two windows available for displaying the challenge quilts in March. The challenge quilts are to be placed in Cabinet S-22 by March 28.
Documentation: No report.
Chris Booth reported the audit has been completed for the 2016 books.
Thank you gifts were given by Cheryl McGovern and Donna Cousino for their work on the 2017 opportunity quilt.
Guests and a new member were introduced.
Cathy Howell moved we donate a quilt to the Arizona Quilt Guild for auction at their March show. Pam Branfuhr seconded the motion and it carried. Pam Branfuhr moved we donate the selected charity quilt top that just needs to be quilted. Helen Phillips seconded the motion and it carried.
Chris Booth will be setting up a committee for the 2017 opportunity quilt ticket sales and asked for volunteers to see her after the meeting.
Fabric scraps are being collected and additional help is needed to deliver the scraps to Ann Vaughn.
Revised Bylaws have been sent out and posted for approval by the members. Members have until February 16 to cast their vote.
Millissa Masters asked members interested in attending a trapunto workshop by Cindy Seitz-Krug in Heber on May 18 to get in touch with her.
Priscilla Naworski moved the meeting be adjourned, and Jean Fry seconded. Members approved.
