GENERAL MEETING
June 11, 2018 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Chris Booth, Jean Fry, Helen Phillips, Donna Aybar, Lynne Hupp, Roberta Penchina, Liz Gray, and Wendy Gilbert

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:  Joanne Kraatz, Irma Taylor, Donna Wisnoski, and Kathleen O’Connell 

Also present:  Webmaster Ronda Jones, and Linda Shaver, Emeritus 

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The May 14, 2018 general meeting minutes stand approved as posted. 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:

President:  Chris Booth welcomed new member Cynthia Schwartz. 

Vice President:  No report.
Secretary:  No report. 

Treasurer:  Chris Booth noted the current balance is $12,715.91.  Treasurer’s report is available on the website. 

Programs/Education:  Chris Booth noted the Christmas workshop will be held in August or September. 

Community Service:  Donna Aybar reported 22 quilts, 48 dog beds, and 17 walker bags were donated for a total of 87 items during the past month.  This included 11 quilts delivered to Southwest Family Advocacy, and 17 walker caddies and 11 quilts delivered to Ryan House at the tour on May 24.  There have been 306 items donated thus far in 2018, including 90 quilts, 28 receiving blankets, 90 dog beds, and 90 other items. 

On September 15, there will be a workshop to make zippy strippy bags. 

Long Arm:  Roberta Penchina reported the month of July will be skipped for recertification purposes due to the closing of the Creative Arts Center during July. 

The long arm will be dismantled on July 6 and reassembled upon reopening of the Creative Arts Center.  It is anticipated the long arm will be available beginning August 6. 

Roberta Penchina will conduct a rulers and templates class on October 12.


Chris Booth noted the long arm fees will be changed to an hourly rate versus a flat rate beginning in August.  The new guidelines will be sent out to the members in July.

Publicity:  Lynne Hupp was present for Marlene Kuskie during her absence.  No report. 

Sales:  No report. 

Social:  Chris Booth noted a social will be scheduled for Monday evening, August 13 in lieu of a general meeting. 

Librarian:  Liz Gray noted there are new materials available to the members in the library. 

Historian:  No report. 

Webmaster:  Ronda Jones reported the digital scrapbook is now on the website, “2018, a Year in Review.”  Photos and items for the scrapbook are to be sent to Ronda Jones. 

Display Window:  Chris Booth noted the beautiful display created by Cathy Howell and Wendy Gilbert for the month of June. 

SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Opportunity Quilt:  No report.
Quilt Show:  No report.
Challenge Quilt:  No report.
Documentation:  No report. 

Veterans’ Appreciation Quilts:  Liz Gray reported the presentation of quilts to the veterans will be on November 11 at 2:00 p.m.  Thus far 15 veteran names have been submitted and there are 21 completed quilts.  If members know of a veteran that would be interested in receiving one of the quilts, please submit those names to Liz Gray.  It is anticipated there will be 25 veteran recipients.

OLD BUSINESS:

Chris Booth noted the Creative Arts Center will be closed from July 8 through the first of August. 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Chris Booth noted there will be no general membership meeting in July or August, but a social is planned for Monday evening, August 13, in lieu of a general meeting. 

There will be no board meetings in July or August, with the next board meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 9 a.m., location to be determined. 

Diane Lawrence moved the meeting be adjourned, and Lynne Hupp seconded.  Motion approved.
