BOARD MEETING
June 4, 2018 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Chris Booth, Jean Fry, Helen Phillips, Donna Aybar, and Mary Sheldon
COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:  Sandy Crabtree, Judy Frank, Roberta Penchina, Patsy Wagner, and Lynne Hupp
Also present:  Webmaster Ronda Jones, and Linda Shaver, Emeritus 

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.  The May 7, 2018 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted. 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES: 

President:  No report.
Vice President:  No report.
Secretary:  No report.
Treasurer:  Treasurer’s report is available on the website. 

Programs/Education:  Chris Booth noted the Christmas workshop will be held in August. 

Sandy Crabtree reported a beginner’s 101 class is planned tentatively for the first of the year. 

Community Service:  Donna Aybar reported 22 quilts, 48 dog beds, and 17 walker bags were donated for a total of 87 items during the past month, bringing the 2018 total to 306 items donated. 

Ryan House was toured on May 24, with quilts and walker bags donated. There are still some walker bags in our inventory. 

Donna Aybar noted a huge thank you to Susan Wendt, Barbara Van Trump, and Lynda Parker for the extensive quality fabrics that they recently donated. 

Long Arm:  Roberta Penchina reported the month of July will be skipped for recertification purposes due to the closing of the Creative Arts Center during July. 

The long arm will be dismantled on July 6 and reassembled upon reopening of the Creative Arts Center.  It is anticipated the long arm will be available beginning August 6. 

Roberta Penchina will conduct a rulers and templates class on October 12. 

Publicity:  Lynne Hupp was present for Marlene Kuskie during her absence.  No report. 

Sales:  No report. 

Social:  Chris Booth noted a social will be scheduled for Monday evening, August 13 in lieu of a general meeting. 

Librarian:  No report.
Historian:  No report. 

Webmaster:  Ronda Jones reported additional changes have been made to the digital scrapbook now on the website, “2018, a Year in Review.” Photos and items for the scrapbook are to be sent to Ronda Jones. 

Display Window:  Chris Booth noted the beautiful display created by Cathy Howell and Wendy Gilbert for the month of June.

SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Opportunity Quilt:  No report.
Quilt Show:  No report.
Challenge Quilt:  No report.

Documentation:  Helen Phillips noted Donna Wisnoski is planning to document some of the veterans’ appreciation quilts in August. 

Veterans’ Appreciation Quilts:  Lynne Hupp reported Liz Gray currently has 20 completed veterans’ appreciation quilts and there are an additional 8 being completed by members.  Two completed quilts were turned in at the Board meeting. 

Chris Booth noted the presentation of the veterans’ appreciation quilts will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 11. 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Chris Booth noted the Creative Arts Center will be closed from July 8 through the first of August.  The room will need to be emptied as well as the windows.   Plans are to meet on July 6 at 12:01 p.m. to box items as requested.  The long arm committee will be dismantling the long arm. 

NEW BUSINESS: 

Chris Booth noted the next general membership meeting will be held on June 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., with a social beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Coyote Room.  There will be no general membership meeting in July or August, but as noted under “Social”, a social is planned for Monday evening, August 13. 

There will be no board meetings in July or August, with the next board meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 9 a.m., location to be determined.

Jean Fry moved the meeting be adjourned, and Lynne Hupp seconded. Motion approved.
