GENERAL MEETING
MARCH 12, 2018 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Booth, Jean Fry, Marlene Kuskie, Donna Aybar, Judy Frank, Kathy Brown, Pam Branfuhr, Mary Sheldon, Liz Gray, Cathy Howell. 

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:  Millissa Masters, Barbara Maurer, Irene Lukes, Roberta Penchina, Joanne Kraatz, Irma Taylor.

ALSO PRESENT:   Ronda Jones, Webmaster, Linda Shaver, Emeritus. 

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.  The February 12, 2018, General Meeting Minutes stand approved as posted. 

New members and visitors were introduced.  

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES: 

President:  No report 

Vice President: Jean announced the luncheon would be April 16, at 11:00 am.  There is a choice of Oriental Chicken Salad or Muffuletta Sandwich.  They are $13 each; Jean is accepting reservations tonight or you can pay on line.  The speaker will be Mary McElvain, who teaches at Sun City Quilts.  She has published a book, which will be available for purchase that day. 

Secretary:  No report. 

Treasurer:  The current balance is $14,210.  Treasurer’s report is available on the website. 

Programs/Education:  Kathy Brown reported the “Oasis” class was held Feb. 27.  There will be a one block wonder class on March 27th.  The class is full, there is a wait list.  High Tech Tucks will be taught April 10th.  The Monday night mini workshop/demo continues.  The next two Mondays, Irene will teach a woven basket/bowl.  April 2nd there will be a demo of half square triangles with a new tool; April 9th will be a demo by Helen on Pineapple Blocks. 

Community Service:  Judy reported 18 quilts have been donated this past month.  There will be a “Baby Sew-In” March 24th, making receiving blankets and stuffed animals. 

Kits have been prepared using our fabrics for you to “Adopt A Quilt”:  Pick up a packet and make a quilt for charity.  Thus far, 80 packets have been sent out for adoption.

Long arm: Roberta announced a new motor has been placed on the bobbin winder.  It was stressed again that we all be very careful using all parts of the long arm machine.  

Publicity:  Marlene stated book marks and flyers have been sent out to other quilting groups and  quilting stores announcing our Quilt Show this Sunday, March 18.  She has extra bookmarks tonight to hand out and pass out to our friends.  

Social:  Mary announced the next social would be the Luncheon on April 16th. 

Library:  No report. 

Sales:  Pam has replaced some items in the Gallery that did not sell.  She will add St. Patrick’s Day items and then Easter.  

History:  No report.
Display Window:  No Report.

SPECIAL COMMITTEES 

Challenge Quilts: 43 items were received for the Challenge and are displayed in the window.  Thanks to Kathleen. 

Veteran’s Day Quilts: Liz announced we will again make quilts and present them to Veterans this year on Veteran’s day.  Liz has kits made up and they are ready for members to take home and piece.  

Documentation Project:  There will be a date in April for documentation of quilts. 

Opportunity Quilt:  Cathy reported the label has been made for the quilt; she will sew it to the quilt.  The quilt will be displayed and tickets sold at the quilt show March 18. 

Quilt Show:  Millissa and Barb gave information and instructions for the quilt show:

1. Those people bringing items to display the quilts with are to bring the items to the sewing room on Friday, March 16, from noon to 4:00 and give them to Barb.  Have your name on them.
      They can be picked up on Monday. 

2.   Quilts are to be dropped off on Saturday 10:00 to 12:00 at the room they are to be displayed in.  Have your Entry Form pinned to your quilt. 

3.   Pick up your items on Sunday, the 18th, at 4:00pm.  Bring the bottom half of the Entry  Form to claim your quilt. 

4.   “Workers” should arrive at their assigned space a few minutes early, to be ready for their shift.  

5.  Please do not park near the building; lets save closer parking for the visitors to the show.  

6.  There will be “Viewers Choice” ballots for the guests to vote on the quilts/items on display. 

NEW BUSINESS: 

The Arts Club is hosting a three day Fiber Art Class, April 12, 13, 14.  More details and registration on their web site.  There is a charge.
Our quilting friend and member, Joni Reynertson has been suffering many health problems.  She would welcome cards, or email to speed her recovery. 

The next General meeting will be the Luncheon, April 16. 

It was moved and seconded the meeting be adjourned at 7:55pm.
