                                                                      May 8, 2017 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:  Chris Booth, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Donna Aybar, Judy Frank, Linda Shaver, Pam Murphy, Joanne Kraatz, Pam Branfuhr, Mary Sheldon, and Liz Gray
Also present:  Webmaster Ronda Jones 

Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  The April 17, 2017 general meeting minutes stand as posted. 


President:  Chris Booth welcomed guests and new members, Debbie Arsenault and Pam Schoenle.

Vice President:   No report.
Secretary:  No report.

Treasurer:  JoEllen Cruze stated the treasurer’s report is posted on the website.  The current balance is $13,378.25 


  • Linda Shaver stated 20 members attended the April 25 skill builder’s class taught by Chris Booth on the curved log cabin. 
  • The Farmer’s Wife group continues to meet on Thursday and Sunday afternoons and will continue to meet during the summer months.
  • The Modern Quilt group will not be meeting during the summer months but plan to meet again in the fall.
  • The pinheads quarterly pincushion workshop with Karen Bogadi will be on May 11.
  • The May skill builder’s workshop will be on May 23, fabric wrapped bowls.
  • A summer fun group will meet on Monday evenings from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. for four weeks.  The first workshop will be on May 15, and the remaining dates are June 5, June 19, and June 26.
  • The June skill builder class will be replaced with a Christmas in June workshop, and will be held on June 20.
  • Sue Godwin has offered to teach a couple of long arm free motion classes over the summer.   If members have specific skills they would like to see taught, please contact Sue Godwin, Pam Murphy, or Linda Shaver. 
  • Members were reminded to check the calendar regarding classes.   

Community Service:  Donna Aybar gave a presentation on Southwest Advocacy and their facility in Goodyear.  Three quilts were given to them for their interview rooms.  Another four quilts will be given as soon as they are completed.  Donna asked for volunteers to complete those four quilts. 

Long Arm:  No report.
Publicity:  No report.
Social:   No report.
Librarian:  No report.
Sales:  No report. 

History:  Liz Gray requested photos be sent to her for the 2017 scrapbook. 

Display Window:  Liz Gray reported table runners and table toppers from Chris Booth have been placed in the display window for the month of May.

Documentation Project:  Donna Wisnoski stated no documentation dates have been scheduled at this time 

Opportunity Quilt:  Chris Booth reported Kathleen O’Connor is checking with Arizona Quilts and Sun Valley Quilts to see if we could sell tickets in their stores for the opportunity quilt. 

Fabric Scraps/Dog Beds:  Chris Booth reported three dog beds have been donated to the Humane Society.  Mary Sheldon has collected the fabric scraps and has them at her home.  Chris Booth explained how the beds are made and they can be easily made by the members.  The beds are used by the Humane Society for foster dogs.

Chris Booth reported Mary Coombs resigned from the Long arm committee for personal reasons and Joanne Kraatz has volunteered to step in as co-chair. 

Chris Booth stated we will continue to have general business meetings during the summer months. 

The next general business meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. on June 12. 

Pam Branfuhr motioned the meeting be adjourned and Nancy Muramoto seconded the motion.  Members approved.
