Board Meeting May 6, 2019

CALL TO ORDER:  Jean Fry called the meeting to order at 9:03 am.
The April 2019 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted. 

REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President:  Jean Fry

The board discussed regards to the Rug Hooker Group asking to have the room all day on Mondays.  A motion was made by Ronda Jones, seconded by Cheryl Skummer to allow full day use of the room on Monday’s by the RH Group with the exception that cabinets can be accessed by members as needed and the use of the long arm machine be available.
Also, the quilters will use the room for their board meetings on the first Monday of the month. 
Jean will reach out to group.  

Funds of $500 for resident referral to Pebble Creek for buying property are being donated to the Quilting Group which has been designated to a life skills opportunity for New Life Center.  PC residents will be involved in helping residents learn and use life skills of sewing.  Donations of sewing machines, supplies, etc. are allowing this process to get started. This fund is being named New Hope at New Life.  Mary Sabatello is designing this class. Motion made by Judy Frank, second by Lynn Hupp.  There is a unanimous vote in favor of approval for this fund use.

92 members attended the luncheon.  Great amount of feedback, very positive and loved the decorations.  87# of food donated that day.

May 18:  Veterans’ Appreciation Quilts sew day. 
Charity sew day is 3rd Friday of every month.  Snacks are being provided and appreciated by volunteers.
21 quilts, 3 breast cancer pillows and dog beds donated.  

Opportunity Quilt: No report.

Long Arm: Linda Publicover
The machine has been repaired.  Watch the skipping stitches issue, that is possibly from fabric having too much sizing or painting.  
Watching the machine leaders.  We are looking at possibly replacing some of the leaders that are damaged.

A couple of people attended the Abrazo Luncheon representing Pebble Creek Quilters.
The Opportunity Quilt and schedule of sales, etc. will be supported through publicity. 
Pictures of Veterans quilts sew day will be appreciated.

Full cabinet of stuff to sell, but mostly Holiday.  Looking at opportunities of donations of holiday items to provide room and in being realistic in what can be sold within the time frame of holiday sales.

Featherweight Sewing – Mary Sabatello (19 interested in this group)
Machine Embroidery – Karen Rubsam
New Quilters – Led by Cheryl McGovern
Request for a Logo to be developed for our group.  Teri Burnett has offered to chair that group.  Please send interest of being on that committee of 3-5 people to develop parameters in asking for design to develop.

July will be display of the Veterans Quilts.  WWI quilt will be in the Big Window.
October will be the display of the Opportunity Quilt in the Big Window.
