BUSINESS MEETING
October 10, 2016

Board Members Present: Linda Labenz, Barb Van Trump, Iris Weise, Joanne Kraatz, Linda Shaver, Liz Gray, Pam Branfuhr,  Joni Reynertson, and Nan Perkins.
Also present: Webmaster-Ronda Jones. 

Our meeting was called to order at 7:10 by President, Linda Labenz.  She welcomed new members, Ricky Isador, Donna Barker and Patsy Wagner.

Cathy Howell moved the Minutes of September 12, 2016, Business Meeting be accepted;  Judy Frank seconded.  Approved by members. 

Speaker:  Brenda from CPC, Choices Pregnancy Centers, presented their need and support from us for quilts and other things (receiving blankets, etc) for their Baby Boutique for new babies.  Joni Reynertson will be heading up the quilt making for their raffle.  The quilt is called "Gravity". 

Reports of Standing Committees: 

President:  The rug hookers will be using the room the mornings of Oct. 24, 31 and Nov. 14. 

Vice President:  Dec. 12 is the Christmas Luncheon.

Secretary:  Barb Van Trump thanks Nan Perkins for doing Secretary duties while she was gone for the summer. 

Treasurer: There is $12,610.89 in our treasury.

Programs:  Oct. 15 will be a Halloween workshop from 10-1.
Oct. 25, from 9-1, Mary Sheldon will be teaching the class, String Quilt.
Oct 31st at Sunrise Park, we will be gathering to share our Halloween projects.  This will be from 3-5, Costumes optional.  Bring a chair.
Nov. 1 is a Fish Pincushion class.
Nov. 14 at 6pm, Jackie Kunkel will start our General meeting off with a trunk show.  Please invite friends and other quilters and be sure to register online.
Cathy Howell and Helen Phillips were the recognized teachers this month. 

Community Service: Four quilts were given away in September.
There will be a charity sew once a month.  October 21 from 9-4 is the next one.
November 16 will be next month. 

Long arm:  You must do re-certification if you have not used the LA in 3 months.
The table adjustment for raising/lowering is not working at this time.
Do not oil the machine more often than every eight hours.
If you need needles other than size 16, contact the LA committee. 

Publicity:   At Sun Valley Quilts $72 was raised, year to date total is $1,870.
November 12 is the Creative Arts Festival, volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets. 

Sales:  $15.80 from the Gallery. 

Display Window:  There is a Breast Cancer display in the small window and in the big window is a Halloween Quilt until the raffle quilt returns from Payson. 

Unfinished Business:  Nominations for board members is being done by Ronda Jones, if you would like to volunteer for a position, please contact Ronda. 

New Business:  Joni Reynertson will be making the quilt "Gravity".  This quilt will become a raffle quilt for Choices Pregnancy Center, but Joni will also be teaching this to intermediate & advanced quilters.  This class will be started in Nov. and be a monthly class. A kit can be purchased on Craftsy. 

For the Good of the Guild: 
The next board meeting will be November 7, 9am in the sewing room.
The next general meeting will be November 14, at 6pm in the Tuscany Ballroom. 

Joanne Kraatz moved the meeting be adjourned, Pam Branfuhr seconded.  Members approved.
