BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Linda Labenz, Barb Van Trump, Iris Weise, Pam Branfuhr, Millissa Masters, Liz Gray, Joanne Kraatz, Linda Shaver, Nan Perkins, Joni Reynertson and Jean Fry.
Also present: Webmaster-Ronda Jones.
Linda called the meeting to order at 9 am. Iris Weise moved the minutes of the September 5, 2016, Board Meeting be accepted; Millissa Masters seconded; accepted by the members present.
Reports of Officers and Standing Committees:
President: We have 2 new members, Dawn Hangen and Ricki Isador.
The rug hookers have requested to use the quilt room the mornings of Oct. 17, 24 and the 31st.
Treasurer: There is approximately $12,610.89 in the treasury.
Programs: October 15th there will be a Halloween workshop from 10-1 in the room.
October 25 Mary Sheldon will be having a class on the "Strip Star Quilt".
Oct. 31, there will be a Halloween Social at Sunrise Park from 3-5.
The November General meeting will be the evening of the 14. Jackie Kunkel will be our speaker. We would like to invite "sister" guild members to come to this meeting. There will be refreshments and snacks.
Monday nights are open, if anyone wants to host a workshop.
Community Service: The subject was brought up about donating quilts to The Grove. It was discussed and voted down because they are not nonprofit.
November 16, 9-4, we will be making quilts for charity, the pattern is "Chinese Coins".
November 22, 9-3, we will be making bags for the New Life Center.
Peg Janssen has asked for a donated quilt for the Creative Arts Festival.
Long arm: In September, 19 charity and 7 personal quilts were quilted.
Please review the rate schedule, be sure to only oil the machine after 8 hours of use.
If you need an 18 or 21 needle, let the LA committee know.
Opportunity Quilt, 2016: Volunteers are needed to sell raffle tickets on Oct. 7 at Sun Valley Quilts.
They are also needed on Nov. 12 during the Creative Arts Festival.
Unfinished Business: Jean Fry and Karen Bogadi are working on the 2017 Home Tour.
Quilting 101 is coming, to be announced late October.
New Business: Joni Reynertson brought a representative from Crisis Pregnancy Center, a nonprofit center that helps women and families with their pregnancies. They would like to have a quilt to raffle for a fundraiser. Pam Branfuhr motioned that we accept Crisis Pregnancy Centers as a new charity. Millissa Masters seconded. Motion voted on and was passed by those present. A motion was then made by Pam Branfuhr that we make a quilt for CPC to raffle, seconded by Iris Weise, voted on and was passed. Pam Branfuhr motioned that the guild pay for a kit for the quilt, Gravity, to be made by Joni Reynertson. Motion was seconded by Joanne Kraatz, voted on and also passed.
The next General Business meeting will be October 10 beginning at 7 in the Art Room.
Next Board meeting will be November 7.
