BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Booth, Iris Weise, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Linda Shaver, Pam Murphy, Joanne Kraatz, Pam Branfuhr, and Mary Sheldon.
Also present: Webmaster Ronda Jones, Nancy Treece, Emeritus, and Donna Wisnoski
Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The September 5, 2017 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President: No report.
Vice President: Iris Weise reported she has met with Crystal regarding the December 18 luncheon. The menu has been set and members will have a choice between chicken piccate or maple balsamic pork. The luncheon for next year is preliminarily scheduled for December 10.
Secretary: No report.
Treasurer: JoEllen Cruze stated the current balance is $11,904. Treasurer’s report is available on the website.
Programs/Education: Linda Shaver reported Sue Whaples taught Judy Neimeyer’s Stars Table Topper with a workshop of September 12 and the class on September 26.
Monday night sewing commenced with a social hosted by Mary Sheldon and Donna Aybar on September 18 with several attendees working on the Twister pattern. Anyone interested in hosting a Monday evening should contact Pam Murphy or Linda Shaver.
Karen Bogadi taught the pumpkin pincushion class on Thursday, September 28.
On Friday, October 6, Cathy Howell will conduct a “Steampunk Quilt Workshop,” a fun template class.
The next skill builders’ class will be on October 24. Jackie Droncheff will be teaching hand appliqué using the freezer paper technique.
Carolyn Rider will be teaching an additional hand appliqué technique at the November 28 skill builders’ class.
Pam Branfuhr will be hosting Wednesday evening sewing beginning at 4 p.m.
Community Service: Pam Branfuhr reported quilts have been delivered to Hospice in Surprise.
Chris Booth mentioned a jelly roll race will held on November 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Chris Booth will prepare an invitation to send to the PebbleCreek Veterans receiving patriotic quilts on Veterans’ Day
Long Arm: Joanne Kraatz reported there have been a number of certifications and recertifications this past month. Members are encouraged to schedule use of the long arm in the evenings as well as during the day during the coming months.
Publicity: No report.
Sales: No report.
Social: Mary Sheldon reported the next social will be on October 31, a Halloween Party at the Oasis Pool area from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Librarian: No report.
Historian: No report.
Webmaster: Ronda Jones reported GoDaddy advised a modification was needed to our website to make it more secure. That modification has been made by GoDaddy.
Display Window: Chris Booth mentioned the display windows were recently painted. A display of pieces from Kathleen O’Connell will be placed in the large display window.
Quilt Show: No report
Challenge Quilt: No report.
Documentation: Donna Wisnoski reported the documentation project will commence again in January 2018 on the second Friday of each month through May, from noon to 4 p.m. An article will be put in the Post regarding the documentation project noting that it will be open to the PebbleCreek community.
The patriotic quilts to be given to PebbleCreek veterans on November 11 will be documented on Thursday, October 5.
Opportunity Quilt: Chris Booth mentioned tickets for the Opportunity Quilt will be sold on October 6 and 7 at Sun Valley Quilts, on October 21 at 35th Avenue, and on November 18 at Arizona Quilts.
Chris Booth reported Erma Taylor and Nancy Treece will serve on the nominating committee for the 2018 slate of officers.
Joanne Kraatz moved the meeting be adjourned, and Iris Weise seconded. Board members approved.
