BOARD MEETING
October 1, 2018
BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Booth, Jean Fry, Helen Phillips, JoEllen Cruze, Donna Aybar, Sandy Crabtree, Linda Publicover, Lynne Hupp, Mary Sheldon, and Liz Gray
COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Judy Frank, Roberta Penchina, and Irene Lukes
Also present: Webmaster Ronda Jones, and Linda Shaver, Emeritus
Chris Booth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. September 4, 2018 Board meeting minutes stand approved as posted.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND STANDING COMMITTEES:
President: No report.
Vice President: No report.
Secretary: No report.
Treasurer: JoEllen Cruze stated the current balance is $11,948. Treasurer’s report is available on the website.
Programs/Education: Sandy Crabtree reported sewing on Monday and Wednesday evenings will begin in October. A rulers and templates class will be held on October 12, and participants will need to be certified on the longarm before taking this class. A table topper class is scheduled for October 15, and a disappearing 4-patch class will be held on October 30.
Community Service:
Long Arm: No report.
Publicity: Lynne Hupp was present for Marlene Kuskie during her absence. Articles are being prepared on the zippy-strippy bags, the opportunity quilt, and patriotic quilts.
Sales: JoEllen Cruze noted $32 was received from Gallery sales during September.
Donna Aybar noted the Gallery has requested adult bibs. A sewing evening is scheduled for October 17 to make the bibs to be sold in the Gallery.
Social: Mary Sheldon reported the next social planned for October 22 will be held at the Oasis pool or will be an evening sew.
Librarian: Liz Gray noted members should review books left on the counter and if they are quilting related books, those should be placed in the library cabinets.
Historian: No report.
Webmaster: Ronda Jones reported a page has been set up for October under “A Year in Review.”
Display Window: Chris Booth noted the superb display of patriotic quilts created by Cathy Howell and Wendy Gilbert for the month of October.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Opportunity Quilt: JoEllen Cruze noted $110 was received from the Gallery in September for opportunity quilt sales.
The Gallery requested a new cover for the box for opportunity quilt sales.
Quilt Show: No report.
Challenge Quilt: No report.
Documentation: Ronda Jones noted all quilts documented in 2017 are now available for viewing on the national website.
Veterans’ Appreciation Quilts: Liz Gray reported 20 recipients are planning to attend the November 11 Veterans’ Day program at 2:00 p.m. Twenty-five patriotic quilts were documented in September.
OLD BUSINESS:
No old business noted.
NEW BUSINESS:
Chris Booth noted a workshop was held on September 26 for the Jeremy Chandler scholarship fund quilt. Cathy Howell has the quilt top ready for Joanne Kraatz to quilt.
Ronda Jones will chair the nomination committee and oversee the preparation of a slate of officers for 2019. The proposed slated of officers will be presented to the membership at the November meeting. The members will then vote on the slate of offices at the December luncheon.
Chris Booth requested chairs of special projects to prepare an end of project report.
Chris Booth noted the next general membership meeting will be held on October 8, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., with a social beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the Coyote Room. The next board meeting will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 9 a.m. in the Diamondback Room.
Jean Fry moved the meeting be adjourned, and Helen Phillips seconded. Motion approved.
